1. What is New Student Orientation (NSO)?
New Student Orientation is an opportunity for all students that are new to the WJU community to spend time getting to know staff, faculty, and fellow students. This is a chance for you to familiarize yourself with the campus and begin to feel like part of the WJU family. Parents and families are invited to attend and participate in the activities on Augst 23rd & 24th.
2. When is New Student Orientation?
Mark your calendars now! NSO is Saturday, August 23rd-Tuesday, August 26th.
3. Is New Student Orientation required?
Yes. NSO is required for all new students registered for six or more units. The events during this time provide vital information about campus requirements for chapel, graduation, student conduct, and how you can get involved in life of the campus. Attending all NSO events is also great way to get to know other students as well as the faculty and staff of the University.
3. I am a transfer student, do I still need to attend NSO?
It is only to your benefit to attend. Even though you are coming to WJU with college experience, we want you to feel welcome on our campus, give you an opportunity to get to know your peers, and make sure you understand what is required of you at WJU.
4. Is there anything I need to do before attending NSO?
Yes. Fill out the online registration form to RSVP for NSO events. By registering for NSO, we will count on you being at NSO, we will provide a t-shirt and welcome packet for you, and we will know how many family members will be attending.
5. Does NSO cost anything to attend?
No, for all new students there are no additional fees for Orientation.
6. Does it cost anything for my family to attend NSO?
Only two NSO events have any costs associated with them. Each student is allowed to bring two guests for free to the President's Dinner, but any additional guests are $10.00. Lunch on Saturday is also not included an the cost is $6.00 per person for family and freinds. Please register online any friends or family members for events they plan to attend.
7. Is NSO the same as the Registration Day I attended during the summer?
No. When you arrive for NSO, you will already be registered for your classes and will have met your advisor. NSO is a weekend packed with activities to help you and family become acclimated to life at WJU.
8. Which NSO events should my family attend?
Parents and families are invited to attend and participate in the activities on August 23-24th. We want families to be informed about their decision to support you in your educational journey at WJU. Please refer to the NSO schedule (paying special attention to the menu key) for more information about the events that are designed for new students and their families.
