As the chief academic officer David oversees all academic programs at WJU. An active scholar, David has published work on a variety of topics, including the teaching of Jesus, the historical Jesus, the Gospel of John, Paul, James, women in the New Testament, Josephus, and the history of Christianity. In 2005-2006 David served the California Department of Education in their textbook adoption process as a consultant with expertise in ancient history, Christianity, Renaissance, and Reformation. At WJU he teaches courses in Biblical studies and history.

David has also published numerous articles on the New Testament, Roman history and the history of Christianity.
David has won teaching awards at the University of California, Davis, and at North Park University in Chicago. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from UC Davis in 1981.
David is a member of the Society of Biblical Literature, a Fellow of the Institute for Biblical Research, a member of the Society for the Promotion of Roman Studies, and a member of the North American Patristics Society.
